It’s back to school for the kids and time to start thinking about this years fundraisers. School fundraising can be really easy and often helps provide extra enrichment for the children. At our elementary school, all of the fundraising that we do go towards providing our children with science, art, and music programs that they otherwise would not have access to. One of the easiest fundraisers that we do throughout the year is the collection and redemption of Box Tops for Education.
This year I cannot believe that I have THREE children in school! My oldest entering 4th grade, my son in 2nd grade, and the tiny tot is now in Transitional Kindergarten – oh and we added in a new addition just in time for the school year!
Earning money for your child’s school is easy! Participating schools are eligible to receive donations from General Mills® through Box Tops.
As a Veteran elementary school mom, and school volunteer, I have a few tips for hosting your own successful school fundraiser with Box Tops for Education.
4 Tips for a Successful School Fundraiser with Box Tops for Education
Purchase Items with Box Tops
The first thing you need to do is start purchasing those Box Tops items – and of course encourage the other parents at school to do the same. Finding items with Box Tops is super easy! And right now General Mills has a huge variety of products with EXTRA Box Tops on them – even more money for your child’s school. We ran over to our local Walmart and stocked up on snacks and breakfast items from General Mills along with our school supplies.
Set a Deadline
Set a concrete deadline for later in the school year to have all of the box tops turned in. Having a deadline makes it easy to count and submit the Box Tops to earn money for your school.
Make collection easy
Decorate collection boxes or baskets and place them in each of the classrooms. Coordinate with the teachers and administration. If possible, place a large, clearly labeled box in the main office. That way, as parents come in, they will see the box and have a reminder to turn in those box tops!
Give an Incentive
Our school offers and incentive to the classes that collect the most box tops. A great incentive to use is a fun recess activity such as “Rock n’ Roll Recess” where kids get a special recess time with music!
Box Tops are worth $0.10 for your child’s school and is one of America’s largest school earnings loyalty programs with over 80,000 k-8 schools participating. Schools can use Box Tops cash to buy whatever they need! The possibilities are endless!
