Cinnamon Oranges for Holiday Decorations
I just love the smells associated with the Holiday Season~pine, spruce, cinnamon, clove, orange, cranberry and any combination of the like. There is something about them that makes you feel all warm and cozy inside. A lovely combination of these scents is cinnamon and orange. The two scents are easily combined by making cinnamon oranges and used throughout your home and added in your holiday décor. Cinnamon Oranges for Holiday Decorations are an easy way to add the smells of the season into your home.
To make Cinnamon Oranges for Holiday Decorations is simple. You will just need two ingredients; cinnamon and oranges.
To Start, you will want to thinly slice your oranges. I used large naval oranges and cut off the end to begin my slicing. Keep them thin, the thicker they are the longer they will take to bake and dry. Lay your oranges slices evenly spaced on a baking sheet. Lightly sprinkle with ground cinnamon. Carefully flip orange slices over and sprinkle the other side with cinnamon as well.
In a preheated oven of 250*, place your baking sheet in and set the timer for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes you are going to flip your orange slices over and bake for another 30 minutes. You will continue baking your orange slices for 2-3 hours at 250 degrees, turning them over every 30 minutes until oranges are thoroughly dried. The thicker the slices, the longer this process with take.
Once they are fully dried, remove from the oven and let cool.
Your house is going to smell amazing! When they have cooled off you can incorporate the cinnamon oranges into your holiday decorations. Add some ribbon and hang them on your tree, or create a garland with them. You can also add them to a bowl of evergreen clipping to create a potpourri. However you decide to use them, enjoy the scent!
