I’m sure you all have realized by now that I just can’t get enough of Christmas Traditions. Well today, I have another one for you, a yummy treat that my mother used to make each year at Christmas time -Cornflake Wreath treats, one of my favorite childhood Christmas treats. I can remember my mom making these for my sisters and I every year and we just love them! The cornflake wreath treats are very similar to a rice crispy treat. They are so yummy and festive, the kids will enjoy every bite.
Cornflake Wreath Treats
Ingredients:
- ½ cup butter
- 30 Marshmallows
- 3 ½ cups Corn Flakes
- ¼ tsp. green food coloring
- ½ tsp. vanilla
- Red Hot candies
Directions:
Melt marshmallows with butter in a large pot over low heat. Add corn flakes, vanilla, and food color, stirring to coat. Drop by spoonful onto greased cookie sheet. Shape into wreath with fingers and trim with red hot candies. Place in refrigerator until firm.
As I mentioned above, the cornflake wreath treats are much like a traditional rice crispy treat. The ingredients are altered slightly and instead of using rice crispy cereal, you use plain corn flakes (not frosted flakes). They are fairly simply to make (shaping them into wreaths can get a bit sticky) and you will wow the kids with them, for sure!
