This fencepost headboard is easy to make and fairly inexpensive to do. A great way to add a unique touch to your bedroom.
What you need:
- Antique Fence wide enough for your bed.
- Black flat paint
- Gold accent paint
- Project Towels
- Wood Screws
I found this great piece of fence at an antique store’s salvage yard for $30, and lucky for me, it was the exact width of my queen size bed! You may need to search for a larger piece and have it cut.
To start, I painted the whole fence with flat black paint. It’s important that the color is flat. I used this Valspar paint from Lowes.
Once the paint has completely dry you can accent the piece with your choice of paint. I used this Gold Metallic paint from Hobby Lobby, which I already had from my recent wedding. Don’t forget to use your 40% coupon to Hobby Lobby, you can pull one up online each day.
The Project Towels, I also bought from Lowes. You will need these to ‘paint’ on your accent color.
To add your accent color, dip the project towel into the Gold Metallic paint, making sure to wipe off any excess so it’s not in globs. Then just rub the cloth over the wood.
To finish, mount the fence directly to the wall using wood screws!
