My daughters share a bedroom and they both love mermaids and sea animals. I have been wanting to add some color to their boring white walls but lets face it, painting them was not an option. The DIY wall decals are perfect in this case!
DIY Wall Decals
To make your own wall decals you only need a few supplies, and you can be finished in about 20 minutes.
- Fabric
- Fabric Scissors
- Template/Stencil
- Faultless Spray Starch (find a coupon HERE: Faultless Premium Coupon )
First you will want to create a template. Since I was making mermaids I printed out a mermaid silhouette that I liked and cut it out. Card stock will work best here since it is stiffer than regular paper and can be used multiple times. For simpler designs, like polka dots, you can use a cup or a bowl as your stencil.
Once you have your template ready, lay out your fabric and place your template on top. Carefully trace around the template.
Using small, sharp fabric scissors, cut out your design.
Turn your design over so that the backside is up. Spray your Faultless Spray Starch directly onto the fabric to saturate.
Press your design onto the wall in the location that you desire. Spray the starch around the edges, directly onto the wall, and smooth out an creases with your fingers. Let dry and you’re done!
These wall decals are not permanent so they go up easily and come down easily, without any worry of what you will do to the paint underneath.
It’s really THAT easy!
