Finding quick, healthy breakfast options isn’t easy – and cereal can get really boring! What if I told you that I have a recipe so easy and delicious that you can whip it up in just 2 minutes and the kids will be asking for more?! Well I do! An easy breakfast smoothie bowl is definitely the way to go when you are wanting to fuel up in the morning.
One of the challenges we face when making smoothies, though, is getting enough protein in them to be a good meal. My children have always been super sensitive to dairy – in fact, as infants and toddlers they had pretty bad protein allergies that wouldn’t allow them to digest it at all. Without using milk it makes it pretty difficult to make a smoothie bowl that has the protein and calcium they need for their growing bodies.
We have started using a2 Milk® in our house for this very reason. What is a2 Milk®? Well the A2 Milk® company has started producing milk exclusively from A2 cows from family owned farms. The A2 refers to the protein in the milk. Long ago, cows only produced A2 protein but as time went on and things evolved, many of them started producing the more common A1 protein which is really hard for most people to digest. All other forms of mammal’s milk (i.e. goat, sheep, human) only contain the A2-type proteins!
Even now, for my older children and for myself, regular milk needs to be limited. I am looking forward to seeing the benefits in switching to a new milk that is much easier for our bodies to tolerate!
a2 Milk® is available in half gallon cartons with an SRP of $4.49 Varieties include: whole milk, reduced fat 2%, low fat 1% and fat-free. Available throughout California in Whole Foods, Ralph’s, Sprouts, Gelson’s and more. The company is diligently working toward nationwide distribution, and you can check their locator for the most up to date information on where to buy: Product Locator I also have an a2 Milk® $1 Off Coupon for you to try it out!
So, now you know that our smoothie bowl recipe has milk in it, full of protein and calcium, without any unwanted digestive issue – what else do we add?

- Toppings for your smoothie bowl such as flaked coconut, granola, sliced bananas, and kiwi. You could also add some fresh berries!
Directions:
Combine frozen fruit, frozen pitaya, and a2 milk in your blender. Blend on high until smooth. Scoop your smoothie into a bowl and top with sliced fruit, coconut, and banana. So simple! And so delicious!
