We are definitely a “sports” family and in the summertime there is no better way to spend the day together than enjoying a baseball game. We love baseball. The stadium, the food, the sunshine….all of it. Even the 2 yr old happily enjoys all 9 innings.
Last weekend was our Wedding Anniversary. I had nothing planned. You see, Wunderdad has been deployed for the last two of our anniversaries. The fact that he’s usually not here along with having three kids, we just don’t do over the top celebrations. At the last minute I found out that the St. Louis Cardinals (his all time FAVORITE team) were up in LA playing the Dodgers.
Funny thing….two years ago, on our anniversary, I took my babies to watch the Cardinals play the Padres, while he was in Afghanistan….
Fast forward to this year and I wanted to surprise him with tickets to see the Cardinals Play. I started looking online but had no clue what parts of the Dodger stadium were good and I didn’t want to spend a ton of money. Long story short, an awesome College friend of mine scored some tickets for us and we were on our way as a family to enjoy the day together!
(on a side note: If you are looking for inexpensive tickets to a sporting event check out Stub Hub!)
For us, it was perfect. I could not have picked a better way to celebrate our anniversary. The sunshine, great baseball, and lots of stadium fun! The kids soaked up every moment of it; participating in the wave, waiting not-so-patiently for the beach ball to make it’s way over to our section, hot dogs for lunch and of course, a special treat. Usually it’s cotton candy but on this day they went for snow cones!
My favorite part of the game? The seventh inning stretch! Especially when Wunderboy sings his little heart out…
We had a fantastic day and I hope it is one that the Wunderkids will remember always. What are your family’s favorite past times?
