We have teamed up with Still Playing School to bring you this fun gross motor activity as part of the Gross Motor Activities A – Z series! Today we are talking bout the letter T and T is for Tic-Tac-Toss. I’m sure you can take a guess at what the game entails but just in case, we are going to show you how to make a classic board game come alive in your living room.
Gross Motor Activity: Tic-Tac-Toss
For those days that you want to get the kids up and moving a bit when they are stuck in doors, you have to get creative.
This is a simple activity that only needs two items: Painters Tape (or masking tape) and Bean Bags.
Here’s what you do. Mark out a LARGE Tic-Tac-Toe board on the floor with your tape. Hard surfaces work best. Give two players a set of bean bags each and let them play a giant version of Tic-Tac-Toe, or TIC-TAC-TOSS as we like to call it. The catch? Instead of marking their X’s and O’s with a pen, they will need to toss their bean bags into the squares to get three in a row!
As you can imagine, this takes quite a bit of skill for the preschool crowd to master. They need to estimate how far to throw the bag, and then successfully throw it in the right direction.
My girls had a blast playing this game, and after they had enjoyed enough, the little one used it for hopping practice and walking the lines.
