Vinegar is a fantastic natural cleaning alternative to the harsh chemicals that are in many household cleaning products. I love to clean with vinegar but there is just one problem, it smells kind of bad on its own. Using other natural products you can infuse your vinegar to make a much better smelling cleaner, like this homemade Ginger-Citrus Vinegar Cleaning Solution that we like to keep on hand.
Homemade Ginger-Citrus Vinegar Cleaning Solution
I really don’t like to use harsh cleaning chemicals, especially around small children. A Vinegar Cleaning Solution is a great alternative to many household cleaners and a scented vinegar cleaning solution is really easy to make with just a few ingredients. This version is ginger-citrus scented.
The process is very simple but it will take several weeks for your solution to be completely ready, so if you are looking for a quick vinegar cleaning solution this one isn’t it. You can, however use vinegar as is for a variety of cleaning purposes. If you want your solution to have a ginger-citrus scent, follow these simple steps below.
Ingredients:
- Distilled White Vinegar
- 1 Grapefruit Peel
- 1 Lemon Peel
- 1 Orange Peel
- 2″ piece of fresh ginger root, sliced
- Large Mason Jar (the ones that hold 64oz)
Directions:
Peel you grapefruit, lemon, and orange and place them in the bottom of your large mason jar. Slice the fresh ginger, and add it to the jar along with the citrus. Fill the jar with the distilled white vinegar and place lid on tight.
That’s all the mixing you will need to do, easy right?! Now to let it infuse. You will need to let your citrus peels and ginger soak in the vinegar for 2-3 weeks. After they have soaked, strain the vinegar into a spray bottle.
That’s it! Now you have a completely natural cleaning product that’s safe to use around your little ones. And it smells pretty good too!
