Having a chore system is absolutely essential in a smoothly running house. We encourage our children to be a part of the cleaning and they have specific jobs that they are in charge of. One of these kids chores is being responsible for the dishwasher.
All three of the kids are responsible for loading, unloading, and starting the dishwasher. You might be asking yourself, “what about the little ones?” or “how do you make sure your dishes actually get clean?” Well that part is easy! Here are my tips for teaching your children how to do the dishes and ensuring that it is done correctly.
START EARLY
Even the younger children can help out with the dishes. My youngest child is in charge of putting away silver ware and the plastic cups that belong in a cupboard that is easy to reach. The older children are in charge of putting away glass dishes, and items that belong in the harder to reach cupboards.
KEEP IT CONSISTENT
We typically start the dishwasher after dinner every night. It will run and be ready to unload first thing in the morning. Part of the kids morning chore routine is unloading the dishwasher. It has become part of the morning routine right along with getting dressed and brushing their teeth.
USE GREAT DISHWASHER DETERGENT
My kids haven’t mastered cleaning and loading the dishwasher quite yet so to make sure my dishes come out clean and sparkling I use Finish® Powerball® Max-in-One detergent tablets. They are easy to store, easy to use, and are super at cleaning!
Finish® gives you an amazing clean and shine – which means you’ll never have to re-wash your dishes again! And you can trust the little ones to do it for you!! My little one loves to be in charge of the special soap.
To start your kids on learning to do the dishes you can find the Finish® Max-in-One products on the detergent shelves at your local Walmart.
Easy to find, and easy to use. But I also have a great Ibotta offer for you! You can save $1 on 23-ct Finish® Max-in-One tablets by using this Ibotta code and then head in to your local Walmart to pick up a pack to try. My total cost after coupon was $3.93 for a package of 23! You can also check out the Ibotta code for Finish® Jet Dry® while you’re there and save an extra dollar!
