I have tried everything, and I mean everything, to clear up my face.   I guess when you have 3 kids in 4 years your hormones go all wacka-a-doodle on you and the end result was not very pleasant.  I had breakouts constantly and nothing would work to stop them or clear them up.  Well I am so ecstatic right now that for the first time in 5+ years I do not have ONE SINGLE Breakout on my face!!!  I am going to give credit to these two little ingredients: Lemon Juice and Egg Whites.  Say what?  Yes, a Lemon-Egg White Facemask.

facemask

I saw this idea floating around the internet (I have tried other natural facemasks that included cinnamon, honey, and lemon juice but they didn’t work) and figured what the heck?  I’ll try just about anything at this point to clear up my skin because besides it being unsightly it is actually really uncomfortable.  So for the last week I have been using this facemask every morning after I’d washed my face and lo and behold it seems to be working wonders! The Lemon Juice is a fantastic astringent that will dry out any acne and lighten marks and the protein in the egg white is supposed to nourish the skin and shrink pores.  My skin hasn’t felt this smooth and soft in years.

Want to try it out?  Here’s the recipe I’ve been using:

  • 1 egg white
  • Juice of Half a lemon
  • Did you know?  You can also use LEMON ESSENTIAL OIL?  I love this option because I often don’t have lemons on hand.  Just add 2 drops of Lemon Essential Oil to your egg white instead of the lemon juice.

Whip the two together in a bowl with a fork until totally combined.  Using hand, spread mixture onto your face (it is quite messy so I do this over the sink).  Let dry approximately 20 minutes.  Rinse thoroughly with warm water.

I just did it! It is getting humid here and I am breaking out. I love that you can feel it working. How often do you do it?

At first I did it everyday....for about 10 days. Now I just do it a couple of times a week. Actually, I need to do it again, it's been a while

How long did it take before you started noticing a difference?

I'd say after about a week or so of doing it every single day. I would do it in the morning right after I washed my face and then I made sure to wash my face well at night

I don't have time to do this in the morning. If I do in the evening do I need to wash my face first? I have suffered with hormonal acne since I was a teenager and I'm getting desperate.

Yes, I would definitely suggest washing your face first. And then rinse the mask off thoroughly

I do use a salycilic acid wash but I think the wash may depend more on personal skin type. I have not tried exfoliating with baking soda, but may give that a shot too :)
