The Mom Frump. We’ve all been there….the kids wouldn’t sleep so we didn’t either, our alarm didn’t go off, it’s a cleaning day, or maybe we just don’t see the point in getting dressed if we are going to be run over by 2 and 3 yr olds all day. And before you know it, you’ve been wearing yoga pants and a pony tail everyday for a month!
I’ve been there. I’ve done the mom frump. But I can promise you this, if you break out of it every once in a while you will feel fantastic! It is amazing how cleaning ourselves up just a little bit can re-energize and give a major dose of confidence. But, it can be daunting, especially if you’ve been living in those yoga pants since the birth of your first born. So here a few (doable) tips to break out of the Mom Frump:
No Yoga Pants
You have GOT to put them down! Yes, I do wear them from time to time but not everyday. Find yourself a good, flattering pair of jeans. If you find a good pair, they can be just as comfortable.
Accessorize
Even if all you have on is jeans and a t-shirt, add a fun necklace in a bright color, a chunky cuff bracelet, or a great pair of earrings. The outfit remains just as basic and comfy but the accessories add some style to it.
Rock a pair of killer shoes
I am not advocating chasing your toddler around all day wearing 4″ stiletto,s but every once in a while, go to the back of your closet and grab that killer pair of shoes. They could be pumps, wedges, or even boots but something outside of flip-flops or tennies.
Do Your Hair
This is my #1 Mom-Frump crime. I have really long hair that is a huge pain to blow dry so it usually ends up in a pony tail. Take the time a few days a week to blow dry it, curl it, or try out a cute up do.
Add a little make-up
I don’t wear a lot of make-up, most days it is BB cream, bronzer, and mascara. My favorite perk-up to add to my face is eyeliner. With light eyes, it’s fun to make them Pop. Everyone is different so add what works for you. Try a little eyeliner, or a brighter shade of lipgloss. If you don’t wear makeup at all try some BB cream and mascara.
All of this comes down to doing a little something extra for your self to make you feel human again. It is so wonderful to get back a bit of confidence and feel good about ourselves, and just might turn around you day!
Do you have a favorite tip? I’d love to hear about it.
