A couple of months ago, my littlest sister announced she’d be returning from S. Korea the first weekend of August. But just for a visit, and then she’d be returning back to the country a week or so later. The plan was for her to fly into San Diego, and my other sister and my dad were going to come in from Arizona and we’d all meet up downtown for the weekend. Well….after we had it all planned out, the plans changed and she wasn’t going to be coming home that weekend after all. She will be returning later in the month, but FOR GOOD! (Right now, she, and boyfriend Darren are still too busy teaching English to Korean High Schoolers and exploring Asia—see pic below)
Well, who wants to let a perfectly good mini-vacay go to waste? Not us! So my Dad and Sister came in from AZ and we met up downtown as planned…minus the little sis, who we will see soon! 😀
Meanwhile, back here in the good ‘ol US of A, we were exploring our own city and had so much fun!
We stayed right on the Marina at the Marriott Marquis…..highly recommended! Beautiful property and very family friendly. The pools are fantastic and daily kids entertainment and nightly live music were great!
The Wunderkids enjoyed swimming in the two free form pools and playing in the splash pad on Saturday!
It was a Gorgeous night! Dinner was fantastic, and so great to be with family.
I think it’s safe to say that Pixi’s favorite part of dinner was the Tiramisu….yes, it was THAT good.
And after dinner, and lots of dessert, the walk back to the hotel got a bit interesting. Pixi really loved the San Diego night life, you could find her skipping and leaping through the Gaslamp district.
But the night wasn’t over, what’s a vacation without a night swim?
The Wunderkids were pleasantly surprised to find a movie at the pool! And perfect for the grown-ups, we enjoyed a glass of wine and conversation poolside while the kids splashed around and snuggled up in their towels to watch a movie before bed.
On Sunday morning the fun didn’t stop, it was breakfast out and a ballgame! With a Starbucks in the hotel lobby, Mama was able to get her coffee fix before we walked over to Brians 24 for a yummy breakfast.
I’m pretty sure she was taking daddy on a walk here…..this little one is a city girl, for sure!
Before the game we checked out the boats along the Marina, crossing anther item off of our Summer Bucket list before school starts.
A family photo in front of the ball park! It is my goal to start taking pictures of the kids in front of the stadiums they visit!
Sundays are KidsFest at Petco Park so we perused the lawn full of inflatables, face painting, balloons, and this guy…
And if you’ve read about our Family’s Favorite Past-time then you know that no trip to a ballgame is complete without a special treat!
Ending our trip, we found the Padre and got a picture with him!
Even though our original plans changed, and we were missing Auntie Elle…we had such great time! It was the perfect ‘ending’ to our Summer!
