These super cute Santa Cookies have been around for over 20 years (yes, I’m dating myself). My mom used to make them and they were my absolute favorite to decorate when I was little and now I’m so happy to share them with my children.
Since the kids get to decorate these themselves, we make the recipe and instructions very simple, using pre-made dough and frosting (note: you can also do it the old fashioned way), and setting out all of the supplies so that they can easily access them.
Ingredients:
- slice and bake sugar cookie dough
- vanilla frosting
- red sprinkles (Santa’s Hat)
- mini marshmallows (the fluff on the hat)
- red hots (Santa’s nose)
- blue decorator gel (Santa’s Eyes)
Slice the cookies and bake according to package directions. Spread a half moon shape of frosting on the top and bottom of the cookies. Dip the top half into red sprinkles. Use a small amount of frosting to attach the red hot and marshmallow. Drop a dot of blue icing for the eyes.
I started letting the kids make their own last year (when they were 2, 4, and 6 yrs old) and the tradition has continued on this year.
