Somehow, just about every morning last school year, it took my kids an hour to NOT eat breakfast and NOT get dressed. How that is possible is beyond me but it happened. Every morning I would find myself rushing around 5 minutes before it was time to leave and threatening to drop them off in pajamas. Then when we finally had left the house we would inevitably have to turn back around because someone forgot their backpack, or their glasses, or their lunch, or…their shoes! I know I’m not the only one here, right?
Not this year! This year I refuse to believe that they are not capable of being responsible and to help them along I have created a school days routine and checklist to make mornings less stressful. I find that checklists and routines can be especially helpful with the little ones, and my absent minded self. Checklists helps maintain focus on the task at hand as well as time management and expectations.
I hope you find our School Days Checklist to be helpful. A good Idea is to put it into a sheet protector and use this daily as a dry erase. Each evening before bed they will check of the Nighttime Routine and in the Morning, as they go through the steps to get themselves ready they can check them off, one by one, and hopefully get out of the house on time, WITH all of their belongings.
