Print your free snowman printable playdough mat and enjoy building a snowman inside
Printable playdough mats are a great way to give a young child some direction with playing with playdough. They are expecially great when incorporating hands on learning into a specific theme.
This week, we’ve been doing all sorts of fun snow activities, backyard winter activities and fun winter science experiments for kids! They are loving all of the cold weather and snow themed fun.
Our youngest child really wanted to build a snowman. It’s just too cold to go play outside today with the dropping temperatures and the wind chill so we decided it was time for some winter indoor fun.
Printable Playdough Mats
Playdough is a go-t0 activity for kids of all ages and especially great for adding in some sensory play. I love playdough mats to guide the little ones in an activity while giving them free creativity.
Playdough mats are also helpful with clean-up! Most of the playdough will stay on the designated mat instead of sticking to the table, making clean-up simple.
To build your own playdough snowman you will first need to download your snowman printable playdough mat.
I highly recommend laminating your playdough mat to give it a re-usable, easy to clean surface to play on.
*This is our favorite laminating machine for home use*
Once you’re snowman printable playdough mat is laminated it is ready for use with your favorite playdough recipe. You can use store bought Play-Doh but I really like a good homemade playdough recipe that you can keep in an airtight container.
Homemade playdough is super easy to make, lasts a long time, and will give you a large amount of playdough to use for just a few dollars cost.
We chose pony beads, googly eyes, and a piece of ribbon to decorate our snowman but you could really use anything you have on hand. Some other ideas are puff balls, sequins, and buttons. This is a great activity to work on those developing hand muscles and fine motor skills in young children.
Put out a variety of small accessories and let the kids use their own creativity to decorate and undecorate their snowmen over and over again!
