One of our favorite St. Patrick’s Day activities is building a Leprechaun Trap but we really enjoy many other St. Patrick’s Day activities and crafts too!
I love the bright green colors that make St. Patrick’s Day so fun. It’s a welcome treat to see as the colder weather has all but come to an end and spring is just around the corner. Even the St. Patrick’s Day foods are fun and festive and full of rainbows!
Like every holiday, I like to first teach my children about the History behind it. Using our favorite St. Patrick’s Day book to learn about the real St. Patrick -did you know he’s not even Irish?!- we learn all about the history of St. Patrick’s Day and the Irish traditions behind it.
This St. Patrick’s Day book covers the life and works of St. Patrick, a simple introduction to how the holiday began as well as an explanation of some of the symbols surrounding the holiday. It’s a great, easy to understand, book for young elementary kids and even preschoolers.

Of course, the legend of Leprechauns and stories of pots of gold at the end of a rainbow are fun for all and what most of our St. Patrick’s Day activities revolve around.
