I was so excited to try out Islands new menu, we love their burgers and were thrilled to learn that they have focused their attention to changing up their Gremmie Menu. What’s a Gremmie? It’s a young surfer! Their Under-12 menu is named appropriately. As always, the burgers were fantastic and the laid back environment makes it a great family restaurant.
The new Gremmie Menu has more options and several healthy alternatives. They split the menu up into a 6 and under category and a 7-12 category with a few extra options that the older kids are sure to love. There are several healthy options to choose from such as steamed vegetables or veggie dippers. The kids can even order their own appetizers which is a huge plus…my three really enjoyed the fresh pineapple kabobs with yogurt dip. And for dinner my girls happily requested apple dippers as their side dish. I was really hoping one of them would try the Jr. Teriyaki bowl or the Grilled Chicken Sandwich but alas they all went with the old faithful; mac n’ cheese.
Don’t worry moms and dads, they didn’t just focus on the kids, there are some new Summer Menu items for you too. You can enjoy a tasty summer drink or if you’re brave enough, the new Heat Wave Burger which is covered in green chilies, Serrano chilies, and pepperjack cheese~ its sure to be a scorcher! WunderDad went for it and said it was awesome, I’ll take his word for it.
I really think the burgers are the way to go at Islands. There are so many unique combinations so every visit I get something I haven’t’ tried before. I am never disappointed. On this trip I decided on the Maui Burger. Delish!
So, what’s your favorite Islands Burger? Will you be trying out the new Heat Wave?
