Today we organized what was left in the Master closet. I am really proud of myself for clearing out THREE bags full of stuff to donate! So here’s what we started with….wow was it in bad shape!
I started by clearing everything out and deciding what I wanted to keep and what I wanted donate. Once that was done I focused on what I would need to organize what was left. I already have a dresser in there since half of my bedroom wall space is taken up by “work” stuff so that holds all the unmentionables and pajamas and such. I knew I needed a solution for my shoes, there was so many of them and they were all just thrown on the floor. I did have a shoe rack but since it was on the bottom, it was always covered so I didn’t really use it. I also needed a way to store shorts, skirts, belts and scarves because they were just piled on a shelf and always ended up falling down. Here is what I came up with…
On the top rack I have all of my shirts, in order; Tanks, T-shirts, Polo’s, Long Sleeve Shirts, Sweaters. On the bottom rack is all matching sweat suits, pants and jeans. The Bins on top are fantastic AND I got them on clearance at Target for $3.58 each!! They hold all of my shorts, skirts, and dress pants that were previously piled on a shelf in no particular order. The white plastic set of drawers you see in the corner holds all of my work out clothes.
These Hot Pink Canvas Bins I bought at Family Dollar. They were $6.96 for a pack of three and sit on the shelf under the top rack of clothes. They hold all of my belts, scarves, and baseball caps.
On this side of the closet I keep my dresses since it is a taller rack. I also found a solution for my shoes! I have a hanging shoe organizer that holds all of my flip-flops and sandals and I bought a new shoe rack. This time instead of keeping it on the floor where the shoes can’t be seen, I moved it to the top shelf! I’m tall so I can reach but a shorter person could just as easily keep a small step stool in the closet.
Next to the rack I have my dress shoes in the boxes and hanging on the wall next to it are a couple of hooks to hold hand bags.
Now the general closet storage and organization is complete but I do still want to make something for my jewelry. I think the perfect spot would be on the wall above the dresser!
