We spent the Thanksgiving holiday camping in Georgia. The grounds were absolutely gorgeous – SO MANY TREES! My daughter loves to gather up nature so rightfully so she asked if we could go for a walk to collect pine cones. She wanted to make a Christmas Tree, she said.
We enjoyed a walk through the trees collecting only the best pine cones to craft with – they had to be big with all of their spikes opened like beautiful flowers. Once we had collected a bag full she was satisfied and we headed back to our campsite. The only frustration was that she could not make her Christmas tree right then and there. I had not brought any paints with us so she was going to have to wait until we go home to get her craft on.
This week she finally had the chance to craft and was the leader of our fun art project – we made Christmas Trees from the pine cones we collected! It was a simple project, and it turned out just so beautiful. Once they were finished we added them in to our Christmas village, it was just what the scene was needing.
Painted Pine Cone Christmas Trees
What I loved most about this craft was that it was entirely kid-led. She knew exactly what she wanted to do. After choosing her colors, I set out the materials, and she went straight to work. It is so much fun seeing their creativity come out!
What you will need:
Directions:
Rinse and Dry you pine cones.
Using a small brush, paint the tips of your pine cone green.
Select your favorite colors of puffy paint and add dot across the tips – this creates your ornaments.
Allow to dry fully and use as you’d like!
Aren’t they just the perfect addition to our snowy Christmas Village?!
