If you ever plan on leaving the house with your baby in tow you need to know how to stock up on diapers and you DEFINITELY NEED an on-the-go diaper changing station!
It happened again. You’d think I would have learned by now, four kids and all, but clearly I haven’t.
We were out an an appointment, one we could not leave, and the baby needed a clean diaper – I used my LAST one changing her before we went in so she would be clean and we wouldn’t have an issue.
BOY WAS I WRONG!

About 20 minutes into the appointment, she needed a clean diaper and it was a doozie! I searched my purse, my trunk, underneath the car seat – NOTHING. No diapers, just an almost empty pack of wipes.
I don’t know what I was thinking not making sure I had enough diapers on hand – actually, I DO know what I was thinking – I was thinking that we were running late to my son’s speech therapy appointment and I had 4 kids to feed before we left and pack up into the car to get there on time. I knew there was one diaper left in the car and I figured SURELY that would be fine!
We finished up the appointment, RACED home, and got her changed – and that was the day that I vowed I would NEVER find myself in a diaper-less situation again.
With four kids, we are on-the-go all the time. Running between school and activities and the tiny tot has been in tow for all of it. From the day she left the hospital (literally, we attended Kindergarten orientation that evening) she has been there for all of the her siblings events and that means A LOT of diaper changing on-the-go. Not every public place is great for changing diapers, either!
Along with making sure I am always stocked up on diapers I also organize and on-the-go diaper changing station so she will have a [relatively] clean place to have her diaper changed even if she’s at the football field.
How to Stock Up on Diapers
As we learned from my story above, stocking up on diapers is SUPER important. With a family of 6 to shop for we like to shop in bulk anyway and Sam’s Club is a great place to do that. I can grab all of our groceries and MEGA packs of Pampers Diapers and Wipes.
Bonus points for when they have a special offer like the $10 off two or $18 off three Pampers Diaper or Wipes Items.
The MEGA packs of Pampers Diapers and Wipes provide enough for me to stock up at home AND in my on-the-go diaper changing station.
Oh, and in case you wondering how I go shopping with four kids and not lose my sanity, I’m going to let you in on a little secret – I DON’T! I love Sam’s Club online ordering option with Club Pickup – all I have to do is run in pick up my cart!
On-the-Go Diaper Changing Station
To organize an on-the-go diaper changing station you first need to make sure you have a container that will fit in your trunk to hold it all. [psssst. I got my trunk organizer at Sam’s Club too]
You want your changing station to be easily accessible and open to be able to grab what you need quickly.
Stock up your on-the-go changing station with…
- Pampers Diapers
- Pampers Wipes
- Two light-weight blankets [in case one gets messy]
- A container of plastic bags [to wrap up the dirty diaper in until you can get to a trash can]
- A change of clothes [or two if you have a newborn, those little buggers can dirty their clothes as fast as they can dirty their diapers]
- Hand Sanitizer – you ALWAYS want to wash your hands after you change a diaper.
Organize all of your supplies in your trunk organizer and VOILA! You will be well stocked and never find yourself in a situation again – and baby will always have a comfortable place to be changed.
