Make the best Snow Dough with this quick and easy sensory dough recipe
Well we are definitely having some winter weather and it is cold outside! But, it’s still southern California, so even though it’s super cold for us, it’s still not going to snow any time soon. Since we won’t be playing in the fluffy stuff outside, we have been playing with all sorts of “snow” inside! Instant Snow is so awesome that we are making up packages to give to my 5 yr old’s entire TK class so they can have some snowy fun over the winter break.
How to make your own Instant Snow
I did A LOT of research to come up with the BEST snow dough recipe. I wanted to make it a package-able, Instant Snow that didn’t require adding any shaving cream, hair conditioner, or other medium that parents might not have on hand. In the end, I came up with these Instant Snow bags and all you have to do is add water!! Seriously, just add water an you have the best snow dough for some icy fun sensory play.
Two Ingredient Snow Dough
This awesome snow dough is just two ingredients – well three if you like it sparkly – and so fun to play with that even my big kids were loving it!
Instant Snow – How to make the BEST snow dough
- One Cup Baking Soda
- Glitter (as much or as little as you want)
- 1/4 cup of water
- Printable Labels *optional*
Mix your water into your baking soda mixture and freeze for 15 min for an icy sensory dough that feels like snow!

Snow Floam – A DIY Floam Recipe for a fun Sensory Snow Dough!
To put together Instant Snow bags for my daughters class we used sandwich bags and THESE printable labels. Add 1 cup of baking soda and glitter to each bag (DO NOT ADD THE WATER) and staple a label on it! Super easy, super fun gift for the kids!
When you place it in the freezer for a few minutes it comes out icy and feels like real snow! Well close enough.
