Make this vintage heart shirt for Valentine’s Day!
One of our favorite family Valentine’s traditions is our Valentine’s Day Scavenger hunt – but really, we just love being festive for Holidays. Part of being festive is dressing the part! Sure we have our share of shirts for Christmas, we wear green on St. Patrick’s Day, and we LOVE to wear heart shirts for Valentine’s day!
This vintage heart shirt for Valentine’s day could not be easier to make! Using our favorite old time Valentine’s Day decoration, the doily, as our stencil, we made this shirt in about 5 minutes. Then all you need to do is let the paint dry and you have yourself an adorable shirt to wear!
For our Valentine’s heart shirt we chose a traditional pink and white combination but you can really do any combination of your choice. Grab a white shirt and some neon paint for a fun twist, or use doilies in several different sizes to give it a new look.
This vintage heart shirt for Valentine’s day is just the sweetest and makes the perfect accessory to wear to school or a fun Valentine’s Day party with friends.
Here’s what you need for this easy valentine’s day craft:
- T-shirt
- Paint
- foam brush
- Heart Shaped Doily
- Sheet of white paper
Take your sheet of white paper and place it between the layers of your shirt. This will prevent your paint from running.
Lay your doily on the center of the shirt, where you would like your design.
Using your paint and a foam brush (you can use any paint suitable for fabric, shown here is a basic acrylic paint), dab your paint a small amount at a time onto your doily stencil.
Make sure you are holding it in place the entire time so that you do not end up with smudges.
Once you’ve covered the doily completely, carefully remove it from the shirt.
Allow your paint to dry completely, usually 24 hours.
I just love how easy this project is – perfect for the busy mom whipping up something creative at the last minute!
This is a great craft for tweens as well. With simple instructions children would easily be able to make these shirts themselves.
